Your son doesn't have to apply for a New Zealand passport. He is entitled to one because his mother is a New Zealander. It would be easier for your boyfriend to get residency if you get married which is a huge step, bigger than returning to New Zealand. We have a labour shortage in NZ right now, so he can come on a visitors permit and if he can jack up a job, he can convert that to a work permit quite easily. He can't start work until he gets his work permit however, but an employer will sponsor him. Believe it or not the largest immigrant group to NZ is still the British. They fit in ok because we talk a bit like East Londoners, eh? You can also support his application if you have a good family setup here.
Good Luck and welcome home. Beyond me why it took you so long to come back from that craphole. |

Go back to the land of beauty, fresh air, better cost of living and lifestyle. I lived in Australia for 15 years and came back to the uk as my mother was unwell, that was 3 years ago, she is ok now , but my 2 daughters aged 29 and 16 don't want to go back as they have made new friends, I am torn as my son is in oz. I don't like living in the uk even though I was born here, I am fed up with the pollution, parking problems, weather, and there is alot of crime here, I hear the police sirens at least 5 times a day. In Australia queensland I only heard them once a month and I am not joking, aaaahhhh yes if i could go back tomorrow I would. Bring your son up in a better environment than here and don't make the mistake by bringing him here to live when he is in his teens, I hate to think what life would be like here by then. Go to the Australian or new zealand embassy to find out what you need to do. Good luck to you and your family. |

It depends on you as a person and what your interests are.
New Zealand is very diffierent, but not so different as somewhere like Asia, from the UK.
Perhaps you need to think of a plan as to what you want to get out of living there? |

about 7 years ago I moved to NZ for a few years before coming back with a Kiwi partner and am now planning to do the same thing as you are in a few years.
The change won't be as dramatic as you think. Living in New Zealand is, in many ways, pretty much the same as in this country with some good/bad differences.
Go for broke on this; though maybe view it as a trial for the first year or two. Having family over there will help.
Planning to do something similar |

if you have got a new zealand passport you can live there no problems and your son can apply for a new zealand passport.
your boyfriend will find it more difficault because he will have to keep applying for visas becasue he is not entittled for a passport i cant remember how many years you have to live there before they will let you. you can get visas and things from new zealand house in london! |

I've had plenty of dramatic changes in my life, but don't have time to get into that this morning. I'd like instead to give you an idea on how to get home. I think it's great that you want to bring your family. I don't know about the area you live in, but our local Salvation Army has bought plenty of tickets for people who wanted to go back to there home. I know this because I used to work at a homeless shelter and I would help people obtain these tickets. Try calling them and tell them your situation. Or maybe even one of your local churches. You'd be surprised at all the resources there are out there to help people with all kinds of needs. You just have to apply yourself and start making some phone calls.
Best of luck to you and your family.... |

how can it be dramatic for you as all your family are there in NZ and you have 10 years here but 11 years there!! The only problem you have is getting all the necessary credentials for your partner and Son, and it wont affect you mentally or emotionally so go for it >>>>>and if your leaving Mum and Dad behind they can either follow or keep in touch on this with a webcam or just emails or messenger no charge talk as long as you like or lastly Communicator cheap as chips for 1/2 hour Good Luck to you all |
