NZers won't know this as we don't need to study English. Try contacting some people from your own country that have been to NZ or are here. Use google.co.nz to search for maybe associations regarding your country, like if you're from China enter Chinese people in New Zealand or Chinese organisations in New Zealand & get an email address from one of the websites that come up & ask them if they know.
Also try the Lonely Planet website, they have a forum where you can ask questions like this so that people who've travelled here recently can answer.
yellowpages.co.nz and do a search on English language schools, then email them all to ask their prices. It won't tell you which one is worthwhile though, you need to research that with foreign people who have lived here & used those schools. Remember if it's a cheaper school it might be a bad one where they don't pay their teachers much money as they aren't very good teachers. Then again some expensive ones might have bad teachers too, so it is difficult to judge.
