Sorry. Wellington isn't the best place for fun! I went to LA in 2007 it was the funnest week of my life lol. So it will be a big difference for you i must say.. Well it seems ur into adventure/action?
Theres nothing in Wellington that is fun really if anything take a helicopter tour ride or go to te papa (it is as fun as museums get) lol, but i live here... though i go out to the Wairarapa region for fun stuff! Because it's close by.
In The wairarapa you can go, 4 wheel driving, quad biking, jetboating, river rafting, tandem sky diving, surfing, scuba diving, horse trekking, canoeing, parasailing, hot-air ballooning and gliding. I just went quad biking and air pistoling out there, the quading was really fun, heres the link to where i went (though you have be 16)http://www.kapitifourx4.co.nz/adventures.shtml Its around 45mins drive from welly.
Just give any of those activities along with Wairarapa a google and the companys will come up.
Hopefully that is what you consider fun and you will be able to get out there. :] if you couldn't get out by car, you could catch the train coz some activities will pick you up from the train station if your activity is near there for addictional cost. (the one i went one can do that)

You don't say when you're coming - obviously that makes a huge difference. If you are here for the sevens at the beginning of Fed - see http://www.nzisevens.co.nz/ - then Wellington is in non-stop 24 hour party mode. All you need to enjoy it is a pair of eyes in good working order. Of course, if you have a little money, that helps too. If you are here then, I think the sevens tickets are all sold sorry- but it doesn't matter - the sports is almost incidental, the craziness outside the sportsfield is the best stuff!

Otherwise most of Jan/Feb there is stuff on in the summercity programme.

Otherwise, mostly Wellington is great for walks and outdoors, don't know if that qualifies as 'fun' in your book.

i dont know that there is that much fun stuff to do in wellington... its a nice city but as far as fun things to do I dont know....... where are you coming here from? you would probably be better off goign to auckland or queenstown

Princesspea
How old are you? That will totally make a difference - I could recommend some awesome bars and clubs, and some lovely vineyards but it won't make a difference if you are only 15, for example.

Also, when are you there? We have lots of festivals and party type things on but it totally depends on when you are there :)

I have copied a few websites.

i've been around the south island (in a week) and in the north: wellington, live in auckland and came back from rotorua 3 hours ago.

Queens town and rotorua is really the place for tourism, maybe after the get together is over you could go to one of these places.

if not those, you could visit the "beehive" (nz government/parliament) and get a guided tour around there, another attraction in wellington is the cable car that goes up a hill to gardens (or were those gardens somewhere else?) Te papa (the museum) is probably one of the best museums i've been to, and its free!

I talked to a friend who lives there and i told her there was nothing to do there, she said that her suburb was fun, it had bowling and movies (yeah, wellington isn't WOW for tourism)
