Depends on your living You could post up in a backpackers till you find a permanent spot. Right when you come in at the airport they have a board that list the hostels. Maybe $30NZD per night in a dorm. The food isnt that expensive if you jus hit the markets and not the fast food joints. Partying. Well you can hit the spots wit no covers and drink before you go so that shouldn be much. I would think you could get by on 1200NZD. I would say if you had $1500NZD-$1800 ud b pimping.

Auckland?
Consider smaller cities like Hamilton or Dunedin where living condition is much cheaper. Housing in Auckland will take a big chunk of you budget. So think twice.

Why would anyone in there right mind want to live in Auckland anyway but it as impossible to answer (too many variables)

Hey I live in Auckland and had a friend from England survive on $2000 for a month. She stayed in a back packers on Fort Street in Auckland City. Got a casual job at a local restaurant to make some extra money and then made some really good friends. So I would say between $1500 and $2000 if you do your homework before you come and find cheap accomodation then that would be your biggest worry out of the way.

LOTS AND LOTS
Auckland is very pricey to live in.
Around $150 - $300 for a flat per week.
Food - Hmmmmm $60 - $100 per week.
Party - haha depends how much you drink...but there is usually a surcharge on the door of clubs - like $10 - $20

Hope you enjoy it here :)

choose Australia....people are better and you will have more respect..in NZ you will get ripped off and people are nasty.
