In New Zealand how old do you have to be to get a criminal record? |
I havn't done anything bad (just letting you know lol) but what is the cut-off age between police telling you off, or issuing you with a warning and a criminal record |

Telling off or issue you with a warning - NZ Police will only do this if they see you haven't broken the law, but see you may be about to do something you shouldn't, such as tagging or hanging out in the wrong area etc....
If you are charged with a crime, a young person (Someone who was 10, 11, 12 or 13 on the day the police say they broke the law) does not get a criminal record in NZ if their case has been dealt with in the Youth Court.
The Youth Court judge might convict a young person (which means they'll have a criminal record) if they're 15 or older and they don't disagree that they broke the law, or after they've disagreed and there's been a defended hearing and the judge has decided they did break the law.
If this happens the young person may be sentenced in the District or High Court, and then they'll have criminal record. |

Depends on the crime and how serious it is. Kill some you go to jail at 10 years old. Steal something at 15 years old you get a slap on the hand and nothing will be recorded on your record. Steal again at 17 years, you get a fine, but this time it will go on your record. Jail is only for real bad *** es. |
