I live in Dunedin at the moment. I have wireless internet. $37 a month for 10gbs.
Next year when I move to Wellington the plans are so expensive! You can either go through the University and pay $10 for 1gb for regular broadband or go with Woosh which is wireless but more expensive!
Can I take my modem from home and continue my plan? I'm with Clear at the moment.

Hi Wabby,
I have stayed with Dial-up using a modem within the PC.
I looked at all the broadband options and think that they are still way too expensive.
I am with Callsouth at 'all I can eat' for $19 a month. They operate in Wellington also.
The cheapest I think is 'Kiwis on Line' (KOL) and they charge $10.00 a month, but remember you get what you pay for. There'll be no backup, no help line, no spam filters, so I would suggest looking at all the options carefully.

Because I live in the USA, I am limited to elaborate. I do not think you can bring your Modem. I mean, there is no such thing as Modem . For example: A computer supports Wireless, Highspeed Internet and Modem, and the Modem would be the Phone line; it's not a device. I am sorry, but I am kind of confused. Find out if they offer Internet through phone line, and if they do, there you go; you can now be connected to the Internet through the Modem port.
1 Modem is cheaper since it is slower and through Phone.
2 Highspeed supports wireless connectivity.
If you wish to add more details, please do so.
Update:
Ok. Yes, you can bring your own Router. For example: I have a Highspeed Linksys Router, and I can bring it with me everywhere I want. However, if your Router is not a wireless Router, there will be no needs to take it with you, for your ISP will give you their own Router ( If its Highspeed Internet). |
