Is it illegal to have camp fire on beaches in new zealand?

I know that ppl are not allowed to have fies on beaches in austrailia because of dryness but is it the same as newzealand. Can ppl camp out on beaches and have open fires or is it illegal. Also do ppl need permits to go kayaking in rivers or can ppl just come and go with there kayaks for free?

No it's not illegal, but in some beaches there may be signs asking you not to light any fires. Best thing is to check with the local council. If can light a fire, you will need to make sure that the fire is completely out. In some cases, you may need a fire permit

Not illegal. but check for signs, also the fire ban when it's on may prevent beach fires.

Just check that there is not a closed fire season.
If there is and you light up, it's quite likely the Fire Service will attend your fire too.
And that will cost you BIG.
Fire seasons are flexible depending on such things as rainfall, humidity, air temp, ground temp, wind and the like.
Above all - be sensible.

It depends on the place. On the coasts of Wellington you can light fires on the beaches with permits, so long as you aren't disturbing anyone with the smoke.

And as for kayaking, I'm pretty sure you can just go for it without a permit, however, you have to be sure to wash your kayak good before and after due to the diddymo problem.
