Yes and no.
First it depends how old you are, you need to be 16 with a firearms licence, or 18 without one to own an airgun.
Secondly, it depends what sort of gun it is, since full auto guns are illegal in NZ yet people still try to import them and no doubt some will have slipped through over the years.
Thirdly, it depends how public you are, if you live in the middle of a busy suburb then the very least I would do would go to the local police station and tell then what you're planning to do and when, if not and somebody sees you waving a gun around they will only have to send out one police officer, rather than the whole armed offenders squad, and have them send you the bill.
If you live out in the country side were nobody will see you then you probably won't need to worry about informing the police but it would still be a good idea.
If you're serious about wanting to film airsoft, join a local club, even if it's just to take some flim, ASNZ has been working hard to stop airsoft getting a bad name in the press and no doubt they would like to keep it that way. |
