Um depends where in South Auckland. There's some really nice areas such as; Wattle Downs, The Gardens, Botany Downs etc I guess the Manukau City Council really needs to make an effort to beautify areas such as tree lining the streets in Otara etc, to make people feel good about the area they live in...it also has a flow on effect in the community.

Otara is pretty rough at the edges!!, I would walk there during the night.

lol yes very ghetto

Blondie <3
It is ghetto as far as Auckland goes. It's not a great place to be, but safe enough if in a group [if you are a girl] during the day. But I personally wouldn't go there at night.

Anna.
It is ghetto but having said that it's nothing compared to the ghetto in like USA.

I was recently in South Auckland and found it very depressing. Having said that there is a few lovely properties scattered around and quite picturesque. But oh the shopping centres I visited did nothing for me. I'd hate to have to shop there on a regular basis.

kiwifootballfan
my bro's from South Auckland.....he ain't ghetto though

dis-guy
Im from south auckland, born and raised
south auckland isnt ghetto to me,infact i feel more safe in south auckland then anywhere else, people just see **** on the streets, here **** on the radio, watch **** on the news, but they dont know what really hapns and labels south auckland to what they think, for example, some of ma mates from west or east wont come to ma house coz dey think dey gonna get done over.how would dey know if dey aint been?ye we got gangsters and helicopters over urr house, police chases burlarys fights murderers drug selling and all dat.BUT believe or not we got some of the richest peepz in new zealand and 1 dat i know of overseas from souf aux,the most talented sports and music peeps from souf aux,the biggest flea market in the southern hemisphere in souf aux,DAVID TUA,souf aux,u compare south auckland to other towns in new zealand then yeah its ghetto, but to us its home

ghetto to me is COMPTON,i know ive been,
peace out
