Is the Wizard of Canterbury (Christchurch, NZ) still alive?

In the 70's I remember a man from Melbourne University whos name was Ian Brackenridge (I think) moved to Christchurch, NZ. He was also known as the Wizard of Canterbury.
He would be in the City Square in Christchurch rallying up the people.
He also had many followers.
Is he still around?

Seemingly he's not there anymore, a sorely missed nutter. I don't think he'sbeen there for a few years. If you want strange people, try Blanket Man in Wellington. Soo famous he was the theme for the rugby 7's in 2005.
