It's been at busy 24 hours New Zealand..what do you think?

An innocent teenager looses his life on Auckland's motorway after being shot dead. Another man was shot in the arm during a hijacking and dozens of others were caught up in it across the city.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/article.cfm?c_id=1&objectid=10553366

Meanwhile, in Taranaki, a taxi driver is in a critical condition after being found in the boot of his car, alledgly kidnapped.

AND a man has serious injuried after a stabbing in Rotorua.

I know our crime rate is very low compared to most countries, but still, this stuff should NOT be happening.

Why can't we all just chill for a day and not let anything happen for one day?

Can't we just sit at home and chill over a bbq? That way there would not be any stabbings or murders!

New Zealanders... What do you think?

I seriously think that people in this world are awful.....I mean, why would you kidnap a taxi driver simply to cause harm to him?

What is wrong with the world?

Serious answers please :)

Thanks :)

Of course it shouldn't be happening, but while there are inequalities between people (either real or perceived), there will be crime. And yes, some people are awful. Sometimes you can lay some blame on their background and upbringing, but sometimes people are just bad. And while many would agree that we should try just chilling for one day, the people who do the crimes aren't likely to be reading something like this!

I just want to point out that there is also a lot of good in the world, and most of it doesn't ever get to the news. I am frequently grateful that I have friends and family who will always be there for me when I need them. I live in a country full of natural beauty, and many opportunities are open to me simply because I was born a New Zealander. So cheer up - it's not all bad mate!

♥ proud New Zealander ♥
I really don't know what to say.
I agree 100% though,
never have and never will understnad random acts of violence.

I just wish everyone else would wake up to the fact that although you don't know them they're someones everything.

I think it is because we are such a small country that we all hear about all of these things, and we tend care about what is happening.
Taxi drivers, abused children, bashings, murders, shootings are becoming more and more common.

It seems at times a new one occurs weekly.

It is a sad thing to see our image like that, but last year results of a survey released said we were the second safest country in the world behind Norway.
