I don't understand why clothes don't help. That's what they're for - keeping you warm. Layer those clothes gal!
Failing that - get a hot-water-bottle; go on a brisk walk, that will warm you up. Buy a sheepskin (to bring home) - there's millions of them in NZ, and they're cheap there.

I live in Wanaka by the snow so it's pretty cold here 2 alot of the time. You need to invest in some Merino thermals, and tell the people you are staying with to either light the fire or turn on the heater. Are they mad we have ours going all the time whilst we are home in the winter.

Thermal underwear and mutlocks (fleece boots) kept me warm in Norway, oh and plenty of vegetable stock drinks, the ration pack ones are quite nice.

Try taking hot showers and baths... I mean, it'll be hard to get out of them back into the cold, but they should be good while they last.

Alternatively, if you drink, well, I've heard a small tot of liquor can help keep the cold off... my friend used to call it her 'beer jacket'.
Could start a bad cycle though. You could always start carrying a freshly baked potato around with you in a sock ; )

Last off all, well, get tough! It seems freezing now, but by the end of the trip, perhaps it won't seem so bad... if I was wearing a full set of clothes, and I was still cold, I guess I'd have no option but to grit m'teeth and bear it.

Sorry you're suffering- hope it get's better for you soon.
