Living in New Zealand?

I visited New Zealand for 2 weeks with my friend, and just loved it, and am considering living there for a while. Being an Aussie I don't think I need to worry about visas and so fourth (correct me if I'm wrong?)

But anyway, what's the economy like in general, and is it easy to get work? I was thinking maybe living in Auckland.

Many thanks.

Your standard of living in Aussie is probably about 30% higher than here in NZ, but there's more to life than just getting rich. Speaking for myself, we've got a good lifestyle. A reasonable climate, enough water, and at present, low unemployment. You're right; you don't need to worry about visas and work permits. Come and have a look. Even if you decide not to stay, I guarantee you'll have a good time.

Australians do not require a visa to visit or stay in New Zealand

Depends on where you have been living in Australia - whether you would find it more expensive but in general, the cost of living is higher in New Zealand than Australia. Approx 3000 New Zealanders move permanently to Australia every MONTH. What does that tell you? Health and tax and incomes are much better in Australia. The unemployment is low at present in NZ so work should be easy to get.

I have been here for 4 years now and I love it, the economy is good at the moment in regards to job market. There are lots of jobs and few skilled applicants leading to quite good salaries.

On the downside the interest rate is nearly 9%, I wouldn't even thing about getting a mortgage.... It is however great if you can save money, because you still get a high intrest rate for that.

I now live in Palmerston North, but I spent the last 3 years in Auckland and loved it.
