I disagree with Paragus. This sounds rude but the only place where there has been rapes and murders this year is South Auckland.
The rest of the country is a hell of alot safer compared to any other country iv lived in. |

Of course it is, whether you want urban, rural, back-country, alpine, coastal bush it is all here and the weather is normally temperate, why even today - mid winter it is 14 degrees C where I am sitting now at 2.20pm in the sunshine, in fact the sun is making it awkward to see my computer screen.
Wherever you are at present it couldn't be better than here in Godzone! (New Zealand). Plenty of space, fresh air, friendly folk, average wages maybe but a good health system, cars drive on LH side of the road - mostly- and traffic is not too heavy. You will LOVE it, believe me I have lived here 67 years. |

Like all countries we have pluses and minuses.
It is beautiful with a wealth of interesting out door activities, plenty of arts and music, wonderful beaches, mountains, bush, walks, water sports are very popular being surrounded by sea, and many rivers and lakes. It is hard to beat scenically. We also have lots of attractions - museums, wine, great food, etc
For further information on all New Zealand has in the way of activities, attractions, scenery etc go to http://www.holidays-in-newzealand.com.
Have a look at the New Zealand travel tips page and you will see a lot of the kinds of things both tourists but also locals have to look out for in areas such as safety. We are not without crime, our incomes are not generally as high as many other countries, and some cities especially Auckland are suffering from lack of foresight in the transport area, so our roads are pretty congested.
However, I would still recommend it as a great country to bring up children. There are plenty of opportunities if people want them. You will never be short of a wealth of interesting things to do and see.
Perhaps you could come for a 3 month trial to see what you think, rather than commit sight unseen? |

It is as wonderful as it looks but the real beauty ( I think) is that everything like rivers ,lakes ,beaches & forests are easily accessed, from any town and major cities.
100%purenz.co.nz is a great site also depends where youre coming from but you might find a site called www.expat.com,which was originally set up by Americans to help them settle here......it kind of tells it from a foreigners perspective as the people who live here ( like most countrys) tend to be a bit biased.........
For example the scenery is out of this world but its damn expensive to live here....
www.newzealandimmigration.co.nz has price indexes etc.
Good Luck in your ventures and dont be afraid to follow your dreams! |

Yes, NZ is a great place to live! Depending on where you are coming from you may well find it a bit on the quiet side, but if you need the option of being close to a city, I live 1/2 an hour north of Auckland - there arent too many people here and its absolute paradise with a choice of 14 beaches (if thats your thing) close by...a great place to raise your kids! Plus you have the option of commuting to the city if you need to for work/play. |
