The place is breath taking and everything, but i know almost NOTHING about the place. i know the normal stuff like population average high and low temperature (which is in C not F >.<) but that is about it. Also, i've been in co-ed public school my whole life, but to still be in the IB program (don't ask~) i have to go the an all girls private school. what's an all girl school life like, and what is christchurch like? Help Me Please~!

I live in Christchurch. At the moment it is very hot - around 37 degrees, but it can drop quickly, and we had a massive hailstorm last week which caused flooding, so pack both warm and cold weather clothes. You will find the malls here are tiny compared to the US, but the people are friendly, and our police very seldom carry guns. There are several movie theatres to go to, we have an ice rink to skate in, a ten-pin bowling place, cafes everywhere, an arts centre with loads of stuff for tourists, and the Antarctic Centre is great to visit too. We have two beaches you can get to easily, Sumner, and New Brighton. Mt Hutt ski fields are not far away, and you can drive to Akaroa in about 1 1/2 hours and swim with the dolphins.

As a nation, people from New Zealand are known as kiwis. In Christchurch most people are from European descent, but you do see other nationalities as well. Our accent is often confused with Australian accents by Americans, although to us it is markedly different.

Well i dont go to an all girls school but i do know a little about St Margarets. You wont feel out of place in a uniform as nearly every school in Christchurch has to wear them. (Public schools, like the one i go to as well!)
St Margerets is well known as a good school and has a high reputation for doing well.
Christchurch will seem small and quiet from what you are used to i bet, but its a really nice place. The reason i love it here is cause its very close to the beach for hot summer days and close to the mountains for winter time.

If you want to ask anymore questions you can send me a private email through yahoo, i live in Christchurch and will be happy to help you.

Have you looked at many photos? (to get an idea of what its like?)

I went to a co-ed high school for my first year of high school, then an all girls' school for the remaining four years.

Both schools have their advantages/disadvantages, but either way I probably enjoyed both schools equally.

At an all girls' school, girls are generally a lot more relaxed, as at a co-ed school I found girls often feel competitive, hence more cattiness.
There's also a strong sense of community (sounds cheesy, I know), and in my case, everyone in my year at school got along.
Cliques are the same at every school ("popular", "emos", "academics", "sports", etc.), but I found that these different groups merged together and the lines were very blurred.
If you start to miss males (the majority of the girls in my year went gaga over boys :| ), schools often have an equal in the community that dances are usually done with. For example, ChCh Boys' High may do their dance with ChCh Girls' High.

However, everyones experience differs, and this is just how my school life went. There's a group on Facebook that basically lists what life is like at an all girls' school, which I included in the source below.

I live in NZ, but not in Christchurch :)
