Question for newzealanders or people who have lived there?

would a person living in wellington earning 2500nzd a month AFTER TAX no rent/mortgage to pay for(he has no debts, his house is already entirely paid off) would be considered an average earner?
also, this person doesn't drive, he uses public transport in order to save money.
thoughts?

Public Transport is very cheap.

That will be above average. You will live very comfortably with that amount of money.

belvoir
That would considered to be slightly above average & would equate to about $40K per year - before tax. However, it depends on how old this person is.

Have a look at the attached link - it's census data for NZ from 2006. (if the link doesn't work just go to www.stats.govt.nz & follow the links to the 2006 census.

Dunno if that person is 'average' but I'd like to be him. I'd be thrilled to earn $2500/month and not have to worry about house payments or other debts!
