New Zealand, because I live in Dunedin.

Well it depends what your interests are among other things.

The economy is much stronger and so the pay is much better in Australia - consider either Syndey or Melbourne.

New Zealand is a very quiet place which is maybe good for old people and young families.

Also New Zealand is more multi cultural than Australia because most New Zealand born people have moved to
Australia, UK or the USA for a better life so they have had to brign in foreigners - so what does that tell you about the place?

New Zealand has a far more of a relaxed way of life, and the further south you go the better.
Dunedin and Christchurch are great cities on the East coast with great beaches.
Dunedin is a hilly city and Christchurch is predominantly flat.

I think it depends where you are from. For me I am from the states (California) and well Sydney is a bit like California so it was better of an adjustment for me. I also enjoy living in the city atmosphere of Sydney. I must say that both places are very beautiful. New Zealand has a different field to it...people are not so self absorbed as they are in Sydney but on the other hand can be a bit more rude at times..this is generally speaking because I know everyone are individuals. Sydney is also a very beautiful place to live and alot more to do in the city. It is also easier to drive and fly to see different areas in australia which are completely different to visit. Hope this helps..I wish I had more information for you...but im a sydney liver and new zealand visitor!

I would live in New Zealand because I hate smokers, big drinkers, and bull riding, which there is a lot of in Australia. Also, New Zealand, I think, is much prettier.

Oh, right, and I have family there. (Just kidding!)

OK and I've edited my answer lol. Thanks for the extra information.

Christchurch is a lovely city but planets away from the buzz of Sydney. I've lived in Christchurch for almost 8 years and still feel like a newbee ... people seem obsessed with 'who' you are, what ship did you arrive on, what 'school' did you go to ... all that stuff ... really angers me! (Why do I stay - well I'm married and have children) ... say no more?!

I can recommend Melbourne as a really neat Australian city. The finance, fashion capital of the country and so many restaurants that if you dined out every day of the year, you wouldn't eat the half of it.

Sydney has a beautiful harbour ... Christchurch has some nice beaches. If you're looking for cool harbour cities in NZ - try Auckland, Wellington, Dunedin (especially views from the hill in St Clair - you can look down the harbour and across to the ocean).

Any more questions, please feel free to email me. I don't want to bore you with screeds to read.
