Which one is the perfect winter escape? Which is the cheapest place to go? Thanks

Well I have lived in both Samoa and Fiji and would say Samoa was the prettiest.Tonga is the least attractive and after the fires they had last year unless you went to somewhere like Va'vau would not be that nice in comparison.

Samoa has some really beautiful beaches where it is quite literally the coconut palms overhanging the beach, with the blue fishes swimming round your ankles. There are some nice resorts there now. Savaii is quite different to Upolu. The blowholes are impressive as is the volcanic scenery.

The villages in Samoa are well cared for with nice gardens and plantings. There is a beautiful waterfall and Pa'paesi( Sliding Rocks) is a great place for cooling off.My very favourite is Piula Pool - not far out of Apia. This is a fresh water pool on the edge of the sea. There is a church above and you can go back into the cave - and if you are brave go through a narrow gap under the water and end up going up steps into the church.

Palolo Deep near Apia is also good for snorkelling.

The climate up the hill is much cooler and you get lovely bush and forest. You need to try and drive around the island to really get the feel for it.Most of the beaches are on the other side from Apia. You do often have to pay the locals to go on their beaches.

Fiji - for me the nicest would be a Blue Lagoon Cruise where you go out to the nicest beaches and islands. On Viti Levu the nicest beach is Natandola. Some of the resorts have beaches that are manmade. There are some nice spots out on the islands such as Castaway Is, Waya Island, Navini or Matamanoa. I am not sure but would say Samoa would probably be the cheapest.Their exchange rate is quite low.

But you would have a nice break at either. The Fijians are particularly friendly - especially in the resorts.

Saphire
The cheapest is Samoa. The prettiest is Fiji.
