Well Christchurch is famous for its unpredictable weather. This minute it is 30 degrees (Celsius) outside but tomorrow it could be raining. Because it's summer though it should be constantly hot more often now.

We are on the plains and Christchurch in the summer goes into drought, so expect hot weather and not too much wetness.

I would definitely bring warm clothes because I can almost guarantee that there will be SOME cold weather but especially for you I would advise you to bring mostly summer clothes.

Also at night, compared to the Northern Hemisphere, the temperature drops a lot all over New Zealand.

The weather can be unpredictable . You will more than likely need something warm . Be prepared. the nights can be quite cool but with a bit of luck you will have lovely weather. good luck

It has been very warm recently and they are predicting a hot dry summer.....
I would bring just a couple of woollen things( one of those all in one snow-suits are great ) and buy anything else when you get here as they grow so fast.....

the seasons in the southern hemisphere are opposite to the USA. So going in January to NZ is like traveling to Canada in July. It's not hot, but it's not wool weather either.

Driver T
No need to bring heaps of clothes.
If you find you need more clothing once you are here because of the wind or the cold, very good (in fact, excellent) additional items can be readily obtained from the Salvation Army shops for a cheap price.
Don't burden yourself with baggage that you probably won't need.
