They buy in bulks lots - by the container. This way you save big costs.

they buy in bulk to cut costs, i think about 50% of what they sell is now made in nz and the rest is made in china

Stupid people don't ask questions. All they want is a bargain. And the Warehouse knows that by selling them their crap products.

they buy in bulk and honestly most of it is from china so not very expensive to begin with, and they seem to have a monopoly in most average sized towns

Maybe because there are a lot of chickens in there going - cheep, cheep. I think you mean cheap - as in not costing a lot.

Bcos there are a lot of DEMAND for such low-price-cheap-things.
Demand and Supply, are co-exist. There is no only Supply without Demand.
Secondly, economic of scale - they buy in bulks and therefore the unit price is lower.
