well at the moment its pissing down with rain in auckland....our weather can be pretty unstable, during this time.
I do though suggest the South Island, the real georgeous. in down there.
For North Island the the Overlander (a train ride from Auckland-Wellington or visa versa) It is an 8 hour journey, but shows the beauty of the north island.

Unfortunately we never know when we will get a cold blast coming up from the Antarctic, so bring one set of warm clothes - too many overseas visitors arrive with only light summer outfits and have to go buy something warmer.
Here's hoping one doesn't arrive during your honeymoon and that you both have a wonderful time and go home with great memories.

Hmm. Spring weather is usually pretty unstable. Yes, we've had some great weather in the last couple of days, but there are definitely no guarantees.

Tauranga, Gisborne, Napier would be the best bet for good weather. I also hear around the office that the Bay of Islands has been really nice.

So I'm sure you'll enjoy your time here, just make sure you come prepared for any eventuality!

Why mostly the North Island? You'll miss out on the best of NZ, most of the cool stuff and most beautiful scenery is on the South Island. I think the drive around the Otago Pennisula would be perfect for a honeymoon.
