Christchurch has it's own gondolas in Ferrymead.
Sumner and Brighton beaches are great if the sun's out (Brighton being bigger and less crowded).
Lyttelton harbour and Governors Bay is very scenic, best to have a car and drive round to Diamond Harbour.
Arts centre, Hagley Park, Botanic Gardens.
Get hold of an 'entertainment guide' if possible, there are literally hundreds of restaurants listed.
Shopping - Westfield Riccarton, Northlands Mall are both large malls, or the city itself. |

Queenstown - the Louge (i dunno how to spell it lol)
The gondola
Water adventures
Christchurch - The Square in the centre of town
The arts centre
Botanical Gardens
Sumner Beach
Good restaurants include -- Lone Star in both chch and qtown
Speights Ale House
Coytoes
La Porchetta
Shopping ur best bet is Westfield Riccarton in chch it has the best variety of shops
Transport -- bus or tram in chch and walk in qtown |

Climb to the top of the cathedral in Chch, if you're in the city, you can get around by tram, or you can just take the bus. |

to get to malls and suburbs catch the orbiter (green bus)
bus exchange is in the centre of town columbo st and can take you anywhere.
taxis can be expensive but if your staying within the four avenues everything is pretty much walking distance.
there are some great cafes and things but if your from overseas try some mussels and fish and chips. also nz lamb. honeypot cafe on tuam st and the globe cafe on high for an all day brekkie. sol square for a few cocktails.
the malls in the suburbs have standard chain store shops, stay in the centre for tourist style shops. columbo and cashel sts are the best for shopping but there are sweet spots all around.
queenstown is big for adventure sports skiing and beautiful scenery. |

Must go up the gondola in Queenstown.
Also the ice bar Minus 5 is a one-off experience.
You can google them both. |
