What are the benefits of living in Dunedin New Zealand?

I believe I may be one of the more helpful answers. I moved to Dunedin when I was 5 and now I'm 17.

It really depends what age group you fall into. There are many activities for different ages.

The weather isn't great. The winters are cold and depressing, the summers are alright (compared to Australia).

We don't really have many race problems. Violence is pretty low. People are generally friendly. You don't have to travel far to see the beach or the mountains. We have 1, soon to be 2 large shopping malls. The University and a range of different schools. There isn't really a huge socio economic difference betweens suburb (compared to Auckland or Sydney). People are pretty laid back.

You'll just have to come here and see. Oh and we have a new Chinese Garden haha!

Just to live in NZ alone confers many, many benefits. To be in Dunedin, NZ, is a double whammy. You get to leave the madding crowd behind you. You have the beautiful ocean at your doorsteps, friendly people who are civil and polite, lovely city with great amenities, close to many other beautiful spots such as Queenstown, Fiordland, Milford Sound, etc. Oh to be there in spring!

It's a university town with a high proportion of students. There's some good coastal places like Aramoana nearby. It's not far from the skifields, it has some good inexpensive ethnic eating places, there's an excellent museum.

It's got quite a good music scene, a lot of young people there. Close to the sea......although that goesfor anywhere in NZ. I would reccommend living in Nelson though, beatiful market town, very arty, nice beaches close by, most hours of sunshine in NZ. Ahh.......I wanna go back there!!
