What are the best touristy places in New Zea land (Christchurch)?
Hamner Springs and Akaroa are both day trips from Christchurch which are definitely worth checking out.
There is also the Tranz Alpine Express which goes across the South Island to the west coast leaving from Christchurch.
There is an Antarctic Centre at Chch airport too.

Stay at Charlie B's...for one week in christchurch, great town..then go down to queenstown, then up to a glacier....then train back accross to christchurch....stop looking for touristy places...you are travelling not going piccadiliy circus.

A must do in NZ is to book a tour to Witomo and do black water rafting in caves 80 feet down. You are given wet suits and hard hat with light and you go tubing along with group. Definitely a highlight and a thrill experience. Check it out!
