I had a 20 ft container full of my belongings which left Los Angeles in July 0f 2004. I finally got my stuff in November of the same year. Cost was about $5500, all in (shipping and packing, etc). Costs will vary wildly depending on where you are coming from and how much you are bringing. THe cost to bring more than about 1/2 a container is the same as for bringing and entire container load. However, none of your electrical appliances will function here without some modification depending on where you come from. If you come from the US, just sell it all and buy new here.

you will have to do ur own online research, but please take into account not only the shipping time, but also how long it has to stay in customs before it clears, this can be up to 4 weeks or more

It depends where you are coming from, try http://www.sevenseasworldwide.com/1_Instant_Quote.aspx a tea chest from London to Auckland costs 109 pounds for 40kg and takes 84 days air is more than double. From New York it is $280 for 30 kg.

Have a look ar http://www.trademe.co.nz to give you a idea of secondhand stuff, our version of ebay.

2oft container from england to newzealand £3,500, takes six weeks by sea and about a week to get to you once docked
