Um new zealander's traditionally love fish and chips (with tomato sauce) - which is like battered fish and french fries.
Also, meat pies
and hokey pokey icecream - which is like a creamy vanilla icecream with pieces of hokey pokey in it.
Also we love wine, and lots of like fresh, homegrown food.

Oh and Marmite/Vegemite, which a lot of people find strange. Its this black paste which you put on sandwhiches and is quite strong but kiwis love it. Marmite is stronger than Vegemite and it is really hard to describe the flavour - it is so unique!

NZers love to eat seafood, they have nothing but coast line, crayfish (a sort of lobster) is really popular along with snapper (fish) and Paua (a type of abalone). Marmite as mentioned isnt really that popular but it is something that is really only found in NZ and a few other commonwealth countries. Tip Top Hokey pokey ice cream is a piece of kiwiana, Big Bens pies. Plenty of junk food for sure

Ok, just for the record, not all Kiwis like Marmite.

But do not forget hamburgers with beetroot in them.

Also, there are some translations to do when describing food.
(As far as I know)
Cookie - somewhat adopted from US
biscuit = US cookie
muffin = cup cake
scone = (probably what US calls a biscuit?)

ya'lls = ?

I'd just like to try to describe the taste of marmite. It's like old funky socks with a hint of what musty old burnt tires(tyres) must taste like followed by a Robitussin (before it came it flavors) after taste.

Marmites only redeeming quality is that it is full vitamins.

Edit: "y'all" is a contraction of "you all".
