The tramping tracks and outdoors in general! the golden sand beaches at the top of the south island, the mountains, the beauty, the laid back lifestyle - uncrowded, slower pace of life, the food, the wine, the people, the wildlife, the climate, we are truly blessed to live in such an awesome country!

For me its the little things like waking up to the NZ bird songs, the greenery, going to our amazing beaches and jelly-tip ice cream.

Its sparse population, temperate climate and remoteness. I've been to both Iceland and Antarctica and had a good time in both places, but after a few weeks you start to miss greenery and trips to the beach. We haven't got a lot of gun toting religious nuts or the death penalty, like another country I've been to, and have friends in. When I first came to NZ in 1968 it was boring. You couldn't get interesting ethnic food and there wasn't much entertainment, but all that's changed now. And the Net means you can near as dammit visit other countries without the expense and danger. For instance, recently I cruised around Harare, Zimbabwe, where I once lived, all from the safety of my own room, courtesy of Google maps.

The friendly and helpful people in the small towns. The beautiful green hills, native trees, and the seaside places around NZ. Every place around NZ is unique, and we would like to have the time one day to travel right around NZ, to see some of the amazing scenery and experience some of the small local and unique places.

The people. I can have a joke with whoever I'm standing next to. The greenery. I figured out how green we actually were once I went overseas. I love how we are unique with all our endemic flora and fauna. And I like the fact that lots of different cultures live here.
