What does "Oh snap!" mean? (to a Kiwi)?

I've heard this phrase used different ways, but always online, in text, so I can't tell how the people are vocalizing it. Can anyone tell me what it means? I heard it in these contexts: (each quite different)

1 - After I mentioned a movie that someone happened to really like, they said "Oh snap!"(but that was ALL they said before moving on to something else, so I have no idea what's implied here exactly)

2 - After a forum argument ground to a halt (ended, if you can imagine that) someone came in and said "Snap. So back to the original topic."

So, what does snap mean here? And what does it mean normally?

1- this is like "oh no way! cool!"

2. Maybe someone said something kinda harsh to someone else in the argument so the person meant Snap like "ooohh.. burn"

it means to me (a kiwi)........"the same" .....after "snap" the card game, where you each have half a deck of cards...each player puts down a card in turn and when their is a pair, you quickly put your hand on the pile and say "snap!"

so if you said " i saw movie A, and really liked it" and they said " oh snap" - that would mean they really liked it too...

or : "chocolate is my favourite all time food"....... " snap! it's my favourite too"

So in eg 2, I would assume that maybe the person that said snap was agreeing with the final statement or upshot of the argument...and wanted to move on.....

so snap has always meant "I agree" or "i feel the same way" to me!
:D

also:

if there is a group of people and someone insults someone else, you might hear another person say, "OH SNAP?!" and that means like, "are you just gonna sit there and take that or do you have a comeback for that?"

"Oh snap!" is usually said as in "hell yeah!", as a derogatory term to agree with an insult "burn!" or in agreement like the game Snap.

in my opinion its along the lines of burn, no way, shame.

haha although my 9 year old niece does say 'thats so snap" when her favourite tv programme is on but i really dont think she has any idea how to use it either.

Yip..

I use it now and then..

It means a few thing just like most kiwi sayings..

i.e: Man Waka Huia were mean at Nats.. i'd say "OH SNAP" (HELL YEAH)

or If my mate was fighting with someone and one said something like " i slept with your man" i'd be like "OOOOOH SNAP" (OH no you did just say that)

yeah means heaps of things aye..

To me, Snap means, Yeah, right, but in regard to agreeing with something.
If someone was making a link between something then i would say "snap"in yes you are right.
