New Zealand is a very beautiful country. Go everywhere lol! The people here are very friendly. Apparently some parts are like Scotland and Switzerland like the Southern Alps in the South Island. These are a few good places to visit.

1. Rotorua:
Buried Village, Kawarau Jet Boating, Hot Springs, Waimangu Volcanic Valley, The Agrodome, Museums, Trout Pools, Hiking, Tangariro National Park, Crater Lake, Rafting, Skiing, Volcanic experiences, Wildlife Park, Gondolas, Waitomo Caves and lots more...

2. Taupo:
Pure NZ Ora Garden, History/Heritage/Culture, Taupo Museum, Formula challenge, Bungy jumping, Bushwalking, Trout fishing, Jet boating, Kayaking, Water Sports, Rafting, Diving, Scenic highlights, Cruises, Lake Taupo and lots more...

3. Wellington:
4WD, offroad and rally, Caving and Canyoning, Diving, Horse Riding and Treks, Hunting and Shooting, Paintball and laser games, Sky diving, Te Papa Museum, Cable Cars, Wineries, Gardens, Scenic Flights and lots more...

4. Queenstown:
This is the place where they filmed The Lord Of The Rings, then you have The Milford Sounds, Walter Peak High Country, Jet Boating, Bungy Jumping, Lake Wakatipu, Triple Challenge (Jet Boat Ride, Helicopter and white water rafting), Shot over river helicopter ride, Doubtful sound wilderness cruise and much, much more...

I think you'll really love New Zealand. It's a very beautiful country especially if you love the outdoors. These are just a few places but Rotorua is really nice and Hamilton as well. The only down fall to Rotorua is that the whole city smells like eggs hahaha only because of all the geysers and stuff. Rotorua is powered by the geysers in fact! This city is sitting on one big massive volcano!

But hope you enjoy our country. Have a look on the web for more sights and tours and stuff.

Goodluck!

NZ is a lovely place to visit with beautiful scenery and friendly people. The tourism industry is really big so you'll have no hard time traveling from one location to another on coaches and most tourist places have daily tours. If you like adventures, they have bungee jumps, white water rafting, etc. You can even climb glaciers (e.g. Fox glacier) in south island - they have guides for this but be prepared because it's really an uphill climb.

Must visit - Rotorua, Queenstown

You'll find a good mix of food from the very english to chinese, korean, japanese, etc.

New Zealand is a really great place if you love the out doors and are daring enough to do bungy jumping and white water rafting. If you stick to the tourist places, crime is not a problem, just don't go too far north in the north island.
The place is green, green, green and very beautiful

Look at Rubix Cube's video in this same category - Travel in NZ - it gives the whole thing in a nutshell.

It will be awesome for you!! Perfect for an 18 year old. I would suggest going to Dunedin at some stage while you're here because although it mightn't be the prettiest or most interesting of cities, it is ruled by students your age. The people in Dunedin are super friendly and it's just a a very social place.
I would also suggest stating in backpackers throughout the country as that's an awesome way to meet people.
Crime is pretty low.. I'm not sure what the stats are like, but the small amount of crime tends to stay within certain groups for the most part.

Tourist destinations:
Auckland (Largest city)
Rotorua
Taupo
Wellington (another major city)
Nelson (fruit picking!)
Christchurch (another major city)
Queenstown
Fiordland

Hope you enjoy it here!!!
