What is one thing I must buy when I travel to NZ?

Hi!
Im travelling to New Zealand from Australia and would love to know what I should buy when I get there. Im talking about a typical NZ souvenir or something just special that you can only get from NZ. Any tips? Thanks =D
p.s Im going to stay in Queenstown, if that makes any difference!

Go to the supermarket and get can of Nestle Reduced Cream and a packet of Maggi Onion Soup. Mix them together and squeeze in a little lemon. Dip in raw vegetable's or some ready slated chips...It will change your world!

A bone carving/pendant.

Oh, if you can find one, the Noughts and Crosses 'sheep' game. From some souvenir shops.

Whilst you're there, be sure to go to The Cow in Cow Lane. Best pizza in the South Island.

You have to try the New Zealand cadburys. Best chocolate I've ever tasted. Also try Hokey Pokey ice cream if you don't have it in Aussie.

queenstown is one of the greatest spots on earth (very cold but thats NZ for ya....) great is an over used word for ordinary, when i say queenstown is great the memory of it will last the rest of your life - it does for me, i love the place

i would buy film or memory cards for your camera, you must get some snaps

A bungy jumping sheep toy from hackett bungy - very funny.
Or you can get some amazing wood carved ornaments and original pieces of sculpture/art from some of the shops in Wanaka (near to Queenstown) and also Russell.

A buzzy bee toy, it is a kids toy that is exclusively made in NZ

Don't know how old you are but some 42 Below vodka (it's a NZ brand with unique flavours like feijoa, kiwi, etc).

Buy our oldest NZ made chocolate, Whittakers, it's been going since the 1800's (big bars from the supermarket or small bars like Peanut Slabs, from dairies/convenience stores). A buzzy bee toy is you know any little kids. Our tourist shops actually have pretty cool t-shirts compared to what you get overseas, they're well designed & funky with cool graphics with a map of NZ, etc. Tea towels, fridge magnets, paua jewellery, jewellery made out of old NZ postage stamps, etc.

It would be lovely to have some greenstone, but you shouldn't buy it for yourself. Pounamu should always be given away as a gift, so possibly if with someone, get them to buy a piece for you and you buy a piece for them.
Otherwise take home and enjoy some Kiwi food, like the Nestle reduced cream and Maggi onion soup dip to mix together, some pineapple lumps. My Aussie friends love the fizzy drink L&P especially with vodka, and Cadbury Buzz Bars.
Just don't buy tacky souvenirs. I'm always one for buying nice stuff that's actually made in NZ that you like to use somehow so you'll always remember your trip!

It pays to shop around too. But if you're going to Queenstown I'm not too sure how easy it'll be to find a 'factory' store.

Things with a maori design in paua (NZ abalone) or greenstone ( ponamau)....the other thing is the kiwi..you will see other things like sheepskins or wool ( as there are apparently a lot of sheep here) and other products like honey, feijoa, which are not unique per se.

Books..there are a lot of books on scenery which are nice of course too.
