What is the best way of accessing my money in a UK Nationwide account, when backpacking in New Zealand?

I was under the impression that nationwide is the one british bank who do not charge you for using your debit/atm card in cash machines abroad. Its worth checking. Otherwise...

Take cash out using your credit card, there will be a charge for this so take out as much as you can in each go, but....

Pay for as much as possible on your creditcard. This gets billed to you on the business exchange rate, rather than the tourist exchange rate, so its cheaper than paying by cash.

PS- Watsons Way backpackers in Blenheim. Free bike hire included for you to peddle around some of the best vinyards in the world tasting their wares for free. Enjoy.

Ask your bank. find a bank that has a reciprocal agreement with a NZ bank and draw from your account.
get a ATM card and use that and withdraw from an automatic teller machine. your bank should be able to provide u with this info. Efpost is used widely in NZ.

Arrange internet banking - and get a credit card.. u can use pretty much all UK cards in NZ machines (ATM's) - as long as it has maestro/cirrus on the back - and visa/mastercard - pretty much anywhere- have fun! NZ is awesome!!

the only way is to use your debit card, I have just had 3 months in Australia and i used mine all the time.good luck sweetheart and have a nice safe holiday

I used my Flex account debit card whilst I was in America with no problems at all...I would imagine it is the same in New Zealand as I know that if I move to New Zealand I will be able to keep my account open...already asked!

if you have lost you cards or they were stolen than you need to look up the tel number on the website for nationwide international dialing, and maybe the can get a bank in NZ to wire to, as a backpacker though you might find it expensive , so check out charges first, or even western union.

good luck
