The other answerers don't seem to catch on very fast.
Of course you mean Mt Maunganui; there is only one place in the entire country known as "the Mount", and that is obviously where you mean.
Tauranga Airport is situated almost at the base of the Mount, it's about 30 minutes flight from Auckland domestic terminal.
Inercity (and other) buses that run from Downtown Auckland to central Tauranga will usually cross over to the Mount if required also.
Some bus lines call at Auckland Airport on their way out of Auckland, but Intercity expects you to catch their service at Manukau, about a 10 or 15 minute taxi ride from the Airport.
Try googling bus services, as there is probably quite a bit of choice. Some may even drop you at the door at the Mount.
The total trip is about 3 hours by bus.
I hope your surprise works well.
Have fun!

Presumably you are talking about Mount Maunganui.
Most of the bus services will take you from AKL airport to AKL city and from there you have to connect with a bus going to Tauranga or Mount Manganui. It's difficult to find a company that goes from the airport to the Mount.
However, there is a company called : Call-A-Bus - which operates between Auckland (including the airport) and Tauranga (including Mount Maunganui). The weblink is below. The website gives the daily schedule, the journey time and pricing. You can book directly with them.
Another alternative is to catch a connecting flight with Air New Zealand from Auckland to Tauranga Airport and then catch a bus or get a cab to Mount Maunganui from there.
I will reserve judgement on whether it is ever a good idea to surprise an ex-spouse :-) |

I'm not sure what you meanby "the Mount". I think you are refering to Mount Manganui. It is a 3-5 hours drive from auckland. Best way is to walk, jokes. Try and get a hire car and if not, catch a bus. I'm sure they'll have buses running to and from auckland,. |

If you are referring to the Mount in Tauranga - Bay of Plenty, the quickest and easiest way is to fly to Tauranga airport (Air New Zealand) depending on your arrival time into NZ. If you arrive in a late flight you may have to overnight in Auckland. Next best option is to hire a car and drive. Depending on the time of the day 3.5 to 4 hour drive.
Public transport is from Auckland bus terminal or Manukau CIty bus terminal. Try http://www.bayofplentynz.com, they may have more information. |
