What parts of New Zealand speak American?

Last time I was there I had a heckuva time understand the young people, almost as bad as in the U.S.
Additional Details
Sigh. I guess that the joke is either too old or the Kiwis are too short (yes, that's another) to understand.
But then they's all fleas offen tha same dog. Think I'll pull the kingpin on the U-haul and watch them tails fade in the dust.

Believe me, English and American are not the same.

Sigh!

speak american?? omg...that is really ironic don't you think? you can't even speak ENGLISH yourself. thats why the rest of the world thinks we are all stupid. Americans speak english and so do the people from New Zealand. there is no such thing as american english, you should be able to understand them.

FaZizzle

newsflash for you.

The language is called English. Unless you are refering to American as being 50% English and 50% Spanish.

And that is the official language down there
