The top two best schools in Auckland are St Cuthbert's College and Diocesan School for Girls. These are both girls schools and in central Auckland.

The North Shore has great schools with a strong community.. Takapuna Grammar School and Rangitoto College are great.
Belmont Intermediate and Rangeview Intermediate( in the west) are good.
All primary are pretty good in both areas.

It depends on what you want out of school- educational opportunities or sporting succes etc.
Also, it depends on whether you are after private or public schooling.
A few nice schools in the Auckland Region are:
Auckland Boys Grammar
Epsom Girls Grammar
Macleans College
Diocesan School for Girls
King's College
St Cuthberts College
Baradene College of the Sacred Heart
St Kentigern's College
ACG Parnell College
Botany Downs Secondary School
ACG Strathallan College
ACG Senior College
But, again, it really depends on what you're after.
