NZ Guy
Another great "fall" Autumn day in Christchurch, 20 degrees and no wind. Lots of rain up in the North Island.

Mid Autumn (fall) currently, winter is June, July, August. In the South island snow can be expected in winter but mainly only on the mountains and around regions in the lower south. Very occasionally it can snow in Christchurch and Dunedin the two main cities in the south island. North island will also be cold in winter, with snow around Ohakune and taupo which are both places close to mountains - overnight temperatures are more mild in the North island in winter would very really ever drop below 0 degrees celsius, however in the south island frosts and overnight lows of less than 0 degrees can be expected. The North of the South is also much warmer, Nelson and Blenheim at the north east of the South island recieve the most sunshine hours in all of NZ. Check out this website for more climate information http://www.tourism.net.nz/new-zealand/about-new-zealand/weather-and-climate.html
Enjoy NZ its a wonderful place :-)

Mid Autumn (fall)
The north island can be quite humid I have heard @ this time of year but the south is starting to get cooler now (usually its colder)
You will really enjoy living here, its lovely, the summers are good too.

Tainruadh
We call it autumn over here and yesterday (May 1 our time) was officially the first day of winter. IF you are moving south of Taupo its winter already. In Auckland its still a little warmer. Man it was cold today (Wellington and Palmerston North). we had a real long summer and no autumn this year went straight from warm to cold
have a safe trip

Oh no actually its 1st June officially but its so cold where I live we had no autumn this year. Wellington. gotta love it. can't be predicted.

olwenc
Today it feels like winter, but it is really late autumn. I have the fire going and it's still cold.

Part of New Zealand had snow today.

We have Autum right now, the rains have started in earnest. The leafs are pretty yellow and red. It will then go into Winter in about June/July

It is mid Autumn in New Zealand.Winter (fall) starts in June. You don't say where you are moving to? But the South Island is very cold in Winter.I live in the Lower Noth Island, and it is quite mild at the monment. And the upper North Island can be very wet but warm. Enjoy your move.New Zealand is a great place to live.
