When will the people of Dunedin start celebrating the soon to be new Stadium?
Never because there seem to be none supporting it. Of all the people I know, I can count to three of whom support it.
I believe there is going to be a huge cost blow out and the building and upkeep of it is going to cost us more than $66 a year. To keep the ever going on maintenance of it, it is going to have to have 3 or 4 major events there a week just to support itself. The stadium trust has done a brilliant job of convincing the powers that be that we need this stadium but I believe that certain facts have been shielded from us. They have been told over and over that the stadium is TOO small to attract major games and that concert promoters will not even consider Dunedin even with a flash new stadium as Dunedinites just do not book in advance - you know what we are like, last minute all the time.
I feel very sad also that poor old Carisbrook is destined to become a field of weeds. Surely, something could have been done to Carisbrook and I am positive that most of Dunedinites would have been happy to support that.
If the stadium is very successful which is doubtful considering other major cities in the world have difficulty filling their stadiums, then I shall eat every word I have just said. I promise :-)
IMHO.

Bunch of hippes that dont support it; its a stadium that will bring world class sporting events to your city and millions of $ in the years to come.
