Where are some places to meet people in Auckland?
It can be just to well, chat or make friends or whatever, but just meeting people really; especially since it's so damn hot right now. By the way, i'm almost 17 if that helps.
Try your local beach, or local mall. Personally, I have made loads of friends from working in the local cinema, so if you don't have a job then you could try that. You could always try going to arcades/bowling/ice rink gaming type places, I've met people there before too, but you have to be careful because you don't want to mingle with the wrong people.
Also, if you are religious then you could go to a youth/church group, people are really friendly there.

You'll soon realise Auckland isn't an easy place for meeting people, especially interesting people.
Move somewhere less tight-arsed when you turn 18.

Any of the beaches... shopping malls, skate parks, swimming pools, on your street. Wherever 16/17year olds go. It depends what part of Auckland.
I KNOW about the heat! Not to mention its 70% humidity... seriously. That's insane. But it's gonna rain tomorrow - YAY! =]

I was going to say at a Bar or Nightclub but you've got to wait 1 more year! It depends what you're into...Auckland is a very busy city so it shouldn't take too long.
