Where can I ski/snowboard in Christchurch, New Zealand?

Hi everyone. I have just paid my ticket for Christchurch and I'm going there in two weeks. I have no idea where I'm going and that's why I'm excited :)

I would love to know where the good places for snowboarding or skiing are? or maybe you could name me some good places to go to too visit since I'm going there for only one week.

thank you in advance.

theres no skiing or snowboarding IN Christchurch. the nearest skifield to christchurch is Mount Hutt which is near Methven about 1-1.5hours away from Christchurch.
Also theres a small skifield in hanmer Springs (also 1.5 hours away from Christchurch).
or Porter heights skifield which is 89km away in the craigeburn mountain range
Otherwise your best bet is Queenstown and Wanaka for the bigger skifields (Wanaka is about a 6-7 hour drive away from christchurch and Queenstown another 40 minutes south of that).

Treble cone in Wanaka is the largest skifield in New Zealand

So basically you'll be having to travel out of Chch each day to get to the snow, but at least you'll get to see a bit more of the country that way
Good luck and enjoy your trip :-)

i have not heard about a skiing place in Christchurch but there are good possibilities in Queenstown. My boyfriend did skiing there and he liked it.

It is unfortunate, but there is no place in Christchurch that you can do this, other than waiting for the ski fields to open. But in Auckland there is a site called snow planet, it is an all year place that one can practice this sport, but its a bloody long way from the south island.
Your choice, and good luck in your venture.

Go to Methven, then up to Mt Hutt. Also are plenty of other small club fields around, but if you don't know them its just best if you stick to the main one.
