Where to holiday in New Zealand? |
My partner and I are 20 and 23 and live in the north island of New Zealand. We'd like to visit somewhere quiet, where we could venture around nature (rather than cities and real tourist ridden spots)
Does anyone know of some place really secluded with bush walks and similar activites?

There are so many lovely places that might be interesting. I would suggest the West Coast of the South island. Karamea is VERY quiet and scenic. Or anywhere really further south down that coast. The Coromandel might be another option.
More at the far end.Although at this time of the year, many places will be quiet. Have a look at http://www.holidays-in-newzealand.com for some ideas. The videos might give you ideas.There are two pages on New Zealand scenery the first is North island the 2nd South Island.
Nelson Lakes is beautiful and out to Golden Bay. Or even up North. You could book some of the DOC camps which are pretty quiet at this time of year.
Mimiwhangata ( out from Whangarei) has accommodation in 3 different houses that you do need to book through the ranger http://www.nzcamping.co.nz/camp.php?id=46 but it is certainly quiet and secluded., and very beautiful.The road over is not that great. No caravans allowed. |

There is a beautiful scenic place about an hour north of Hamilton. Its called Otara, the people there are so generous some will even take your bags for you. The women are in abundance there and they have long hair down there backs..
You may even find the odd Bush walk. |

Mangawhai (almost dead bang between Auckland and whangarei) is gorgeous but is more beach walks rather than bush walks.
If you start at Kaitia and drive down the east cost you find millions of un touristy little beach/farming towns that are awsome and one of our best keep secrects these little towns
I definately recomend Ohope (near whakatane) Langs Beach,
Bland Bay despite its name is really nice. The back road to Russell is also worth a look.
