Nelson at the top of the south island! the weather in march is great, very settled and perfect for swimming in the beautiful golden sand beaches of Abel Tasman national park (about an hour away from Nelson)

Too much to go through, it depends if you want a cultural holiday, thrill seekers, or just to relax.

Prices are all the same, but the tourist is targeted in popular areas.

Nelson is lovely but you really need to hire a car so you can get around and out to Kaiteriteri and places. Wellington is a beautiful city if you get good weather that is Just the trip up the cable car and a walk through the gardens up there is idyllic and you get a view over the harbour then you can take a day trip on the ferry to Picton . Wellington has some lovely boutique shops , http://www.innz.co.nz/accommodation/wellington/

Wellington has a great range of attractions on offer. The city is home to Parliament Buildings as well as many historic buildings and museums which tell the story of New Zealand. It is also home to the Royal New Zealand Ballet and the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, as well as national dance, drama, opera and musical groups.
