Which one;there are two. One in Maori and one in English and the New Zealand govt. is paying out 100's and 100's of milliions of dollars, and absolutely huge tracts of land, on the one that gives Maori the most money. Why double dipping is even allowed un the present Labour Govt. One tribe is even going for a triple treat because of the recenlty passed Emissions law. They want comp for the planned chopping down of forests to turn the land into dairy farms. WHO ???? Those that have absolutely no bearing on what NZ is today; it's nothing but a historical document that's now covered in $$$ signs.

It was a long drawn out process but basically about half the Maori chiefs in the North Island signed the Maori translation, and a much smaller number signed the english transcript. The dignatory on behalf of the Queen signed - who I believe was the Governor of NZ at the time - I forgot his name..Controversy surrounds the validity of the treaty as there were two versions( English,Maori) and both had different sets of signatures..
Hope this helps I just learnt about it earlier this year, but forgot some details
