It's the essence of everything I have come to appreciate in the world. A "Best Of Western Civilization" collection, if you will. I have lived almost everywhere in the world, and the more you know, the less you can settle for one place, because you'll miss the others.

Well, it's different with New Zealand.
Here, I get to have everything I've ever liked in one place.

Maybe it's just me, but I think New Zealand somehow manages to be as socially conscious and forward-thinking as Scandinavia, as elegant in its architecture and landscapes as Britain's nicest spots, it has the mild climate of Italy, the culinary sophistication of France, with a hedonistic attitude to go with it, and is as relaxed and tranquil as Canada.

Despite everything it is very beautiful which means we can enjoy a great lifestyle.Beaches, water activities, bush walks, and mountains all within a close distance of most people.

We have a small population so compared to other countries we have open space, fresh air, and a wealth of opportunities for whoever chooses to take them.

We enjoy fresh wholesome food, great wines and coffee, with plenty of variety both in types of cuisine and price ranges. Our dairy products , meat, fish, fruit and vegetables are generally fresh and wholesome.

While we have a few natural disasters, we have so far had nothing on the scale of some countries where huge numbers lose everything.

We have comparatively good education and health care while not top notch, is still pretty reasonable.

New Zealand women are treated in a far more equitable way than in many countries in the world, and we have the opportunity for a good education and jobs.

Many times as I participate in some simple but rewarding activity, I comment on how lucky we are in this country. Too few really realise just how fortunate we are by international standards.

Wealth is not just in having a lot of money but a great lifestyle. If you enjoy the simple things in life - you cannot beat new Zealand!

How can you not love New Zealand!?
The people are friendly
The environment is BEAUTIFUL
We are never short of decent cafes
It's a small country - we all seem to know eachother.
Love it. :)

Main reason...Because its home.

People here are not as materialistically minded as overseas, and the lifestyle is so relaxed and great. You either love it or hate it.

But as for me. Friends, family are here and as they say, home is where the heart is.
