Before your depart to N.Z. check with their consulate to see if they allow any person whose passaport is within 6 months from expiration to enter the country. (Most countries do not) If they let you enter the country, you will not have any problems leaving the island.

Most countries require you to have at least 6 months on your passport before entering. This links into the visa system. Try this web site for information.

check with nz immigration because quite often you need 6 months or more before expiry date before getting into some countries.

I'm pretty sure that you need six months minimum on your Passport when you return to the UK, if you are going outside the EU, even to Commonwealth countries like New Zealand. The best thing to do is contact the Airline you are travelling with and ask. The worst thing to do is turn up and be refused your flight because of it. You won't have to go to London if you live nearer one of the Passport offices, Liverpool is our nearest and I think there's one in Leeds.

PASSPORT SHOULD BE VALID AT LEAST 3 MONTHS BEYOND PERIOD OF INTENDED STAY (OR 1 MONTH BEYOND INTENDED STAY IF ISSUING GOVERNMENT HAS CONSULAR REPRESENTATION IN NEW ZEALAND ABLE TO ISSUE AND RENEW PASSPORTS).
PASSPORTS CONTAINING NEW ZEALAND RESIDENCE VISA, NEW ZEALAND RETURNING RESIDENT VISA OR AUSTRALIAN RESIDENT RETURN VISA MUST BE VALID ON ARRIVAL.

dnlrawson
Of course you will, when you get back you have 3 months to get a new one before you can travel again, thats all.

margie38us j
yes if you have a complete document for going there in new zealand..

there has to be 6 months between when you are due to return and your passport expiring or they wont let you travel. you can renew it express (costs about £70) if you go to london yourself to the passport office and they do it there and then for you. otherwise, this time of year you'll be waiting around a month or so maybe more for the passport office to get it back to you.

emily_jane2379
I think you generally are preferred to have at least 6mths when you get back until your passport runs out. Don't know why though and if they stop you travelling over this.
