Hi.I suggest you look here http://www.immigration.govt.nz and you may wish to contact them to ask about time frames. You have been given some bad advise below. You cannot work on a tourist visa, and need to ensure you have the correct one. If you have a job, the company who have offered you a job should be willing to help you. They will probably need to give you paperwork saying they have offered you work anyway.
The type of visa will be dependent on various things to do with the job - I assume they are sponsoring you? Where you are coming from etc etc.
Immigration is the best place to get the correct advise.
Good Luck |

Do not come over until you have your visa approved. It will be faster from the NZ consulate than it will be from any immigration office. Immigration is taking up to a month for most visas to even be looked at for processing, then you may still be rejected (although rare). Go to the immigration website, it is comprehensive and extremely helpful. All the forms you need and every question you have will be answered there.
http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/
Your future employer will need to give you a written letter offering employment, they should also want to sponsor you if they really want you. Check out the Skilled Migrant Category list, see if your skills are on it. If you are, they will approve you nearly instantly.
I don't know why so many Kiwis are anti NZ. It is a wonderful place to live and they are very accepting of foreign workers. At least legally, if not so much socially. |

not me.

if you come to work on a tourist visa, you will get heavy fines and get kicked out of new zealand, and never be able to come back.
if you are highly qualified they will let you in without any bother. its harder if you are married, even harder if you have kids and almost impossible if you are under-qualified, married, and have kids.
personally i would not reccomend working in new zelaland unless you are very desperate because they pay is very poor and immagration makes things hard. try australia, climate is nicer, better pay and they let you in easier. |

Its easy mate. No drama at all. NZ lets in anyone and everyone. Just come on a tourist visa and work here. |
