Hello there.
I've been to the Balearics 18 or 19 times now at all times of the year and May can be very changeable.
Some days can be nice and sunny- I wouldn't say particularly hot but pleasant and certainly pleasant enough to lie out in. Sometimes when it's too hot you can't stand sunbathing for too long, but if you find a sheltered spot you'll be able to lie out all day as long as it doesn't rain.

It will rain in May- sometimes I've been ankle deep in rain because when it rains it pours down! Usually though it doesn't rain all day everyday so although I'd say you shouldn't expect hot sunny weather all day everyday for your two weeks, I'm sure that if you work at it you will have a lovely colour by the end of your fortnight.

Menorca is great for families- especially with children of the ages your son and nephew are. The resort of Cala'n Forcat lies on the extreme west coast of Menorca, approximately 5km west of the former capital of the island Ciutadella, and some 50km, or 30 miles, west of Mahon and the International Aeropuerto de Menorca.
For all intents and purposes, Cala'n Forcat along with its neighbours Cala'n Blanes and Los Delfines, have now all merged to form the one resort that is possibly the largest tourist development on the island.

The whole area around Cala'n Forcat is one of Menorca's newest resort destinations, that for the most part has only been built from the late 1980's onwards. With the exception of a couple of fair sized hotels, accommodation here is mainly self catering apartments and privately owned villas, and as a generalisation would be best suited towards families with young children or younger couples.

Cala'n Forcat and the surrounding area, is very popular with British visitors, the resort has a good selection of shops and SPAR type supermarkets that should cater for the everyday holiday essentials, with most also stocking a wide selection of UK recognised branded goods, albeit at slightly higher prices than you would normally expect to pay back home. However, for a wider selection of both designer labels and local crafts you will need to head into nearby Ciutadella.

The resorts of Cala'n Forcat and Cala'n Blanes are often described by the major tour operators as being "lively". By Menorcan standards they probably are, however, don't go expecting to find another Magaluf or Playa de las Americas here, Menorca just isn't like that, which for most people who holiday here is attraction enough

I'm sure you'll have a lovely time there- All the best!

it should be really nice end may, hot but not the horrible burning hot, about in the 80s. You get a better tan when its less hot and its better for you.

In May the temeprature ranges from 12 to 20 degrees centigrade - this is of course an average only taken over the past 5 years. The last two winters, 2005/6 and 2006/7 have been the coldest for many years, but the weather is picking up now - I have had both breakfast and lunch ouside today. Hope that this helps

We were in Menorca in may last year and although it wasn't red hot we did come back with a tan, have a good holiday.
