I live in Benidorm (well just outside in La Cala) and have added a link for you to read. If you leave the apartments and head down towards the beach (Poniente) which I have to say is a building site at the moment as they are making the roadway a pedestrian only walkway and it taking them forever to do it, but it will eventually look beautiful once it is finished (but don't ask me when). The beach is not effected though. Once you have the beach in front of you turn left and walk along the front and you will hit the old town of Benidorm with all it's little shops and windy streets. If you continue going left you will eventually come to the Levante beach which people call the New Town. you can get a bus but it takes you round the houses a bit, and of course you may obviously prefer to walk if the sun is out. It has been glorious today in the sun 16 degrees, but in the shade it has been freezing (I know I have stood working in the market in the shade all day!!!)
Enjoy yourself.
