LadyTraveller
Ok, so we have had someone tell you it's on the wrong island (For the record, Playa Del Ingles is in Gran Canaria NOT Tenerife)
And the other person before me obviously has absolutley no idea what on earth they are talking about!

Ok.. heres the real truth!

Playa del Ingles (Beach of the English) is the largest tourist resort of the island. A mass of apartment blocks and hotels, bars, clubs and restaurants it truly caters for all ages and tastes and, despite the name, many nationalities.

Coming from the airport heading south, it seems like a concrete jungle in the middle of a desert with the ocean at one side . That is because this is exactly what it is. In Playa del Inglés you will not find a typical Spanish centre of the town with trees and elderly people sitting talking and playing cards. Most roads are curved and it's easy to get lost. Apart from the hotels and the beach, life happens in the eleven (!) shopping centres. These shopping centres don't look very attractive, though during the last few years quite a lot of effort has been put into modernising them.

First of all,Playa del Ingles has a beautiful, usually always sunny beach. Everything a common tourist looks for is available. Its broad expanse of sandy beach, awarded the prestigious Blue Flag, stretches from San AgustĂn to Maspalomas. Entrance to the main Playa del Ingles beach is via steps with the watersports area close to Annexo II shopping centre.

The resort is also considered to be the gay capital of Europe, with gay-oriented entertainment. including hilarious drag shows featured in the Yumbo centre.
HOWEVER, let me assure you, that the drag shows and entertainment in there in the evening is HILARIOUS! Families with kids go. I've even been there myself with my own family and we had a great time! Its perfectly harmless and an absolute HOOT! You Have to try it, its great fun and very entertaining!

Its not just the Yumbo centre for evening entertainment, The whole resort comes alive at night with restaurants, bars, night clubs and floor shows.....there is literally something for everyone! You'll have fun looking for it as well!

So, the commercial centers are generally the places to go for restaurants, shops, bars - nightlife and night clubs. Each has other facilities to offer from crazy golf to bingo, night clubs to kiddies clubs. Common to all centers are a selection of bars, restaurants, souvenier shops, supermarket and plenty of cash-points if not banks.

There are 2 waterparks in the area. In my personal opinion, Aqualand is the best for adults and children alike, enough attractions here to keep everyone busy all day long, it's huge, go there! The bus service is daily from the main bus stop in Puerto Rico. The final destination is Palmitos Park so that's what the sign will say on the front of the bus, the number 70 service. Departure times from Puerto Rico are 09:45 10:00 10:45 11:45 12:45 with buses returning at 13:30 15:30 18:00. The fare is around €2 per person one way. Alternatively, a taxi will get you there or back for around €15.00.

Take flip-flops or something to protect your feet from the heat of the ground, also a towel and sun-cream and that's all you should need. You'll be leaving your belongings unattended for a large part of the day and although there are lockers for valuables such as a camera or camcorder, it's not very convenient having to go back there too often.

The park boasts 90,000 m square of space, 13 attractions having a total of 33 slides, 5,300m square of swimming pools with the wave machine going every hour. They have their own man-made "lazy river" where you can float around the complex on an inflatable tyre. There are several attractions and slides for the smaller kids, restaurants, snack bars and cafés and a souvenir shop. You'll find ample parking if you're going there in a hire car and parking's free of charge. Lockers I mentioned and there are changing rooms, toilets and extensive garden areas too. Sun beds are 2 euros for the day with parasols when you rent a bed. There's also an 18 hole, mini golf course costing 4 euros a go.

Would you like to know why there are two aqua parks within about a mile of each other? Well, so do I. I guess the people at Aqualand thought they could build something better, which they did. Saying that though there are enough of the same style attractions to keep both adults and kids busy for the day.
The slides aren't quite as long or steep, the pools aren't quite as big and I missed the "lazy river". I counted 8 attractions but a lot less slides and the park itself is perhaps 30% smaller than Aqua Sur. I'm sorry to the people at Ocean Aqua Park but if I were you, I'd go to Aqualand.

So.. there you go. I was there last year and had a great time- I'm jealous!

I hope you really enjoy yourself! All the best!

I know Playa del Inglés very well. It's a touristic area. And the beach is almost 7km long with dunes and a nudist area.

What the LadyTraveller wrote does not come from her. She copied it from the website below. How easy to answer!

It's in the South (sur) of Gran Canaria. There are plenty of places to go dining, shopping, have fun. Nice atmosphere disco Pacha but moves after midnight. There's a waterworld in el sur. The beach is great, water is clean, you can do watersports. There's plenty of bars with music. Walk at night by the avenue in Maspalomas where there restaurants and some entertainment, like behind the Lopesan hotels by the ocean.

People deal with tourists constantly and they're friendly and helpful.

Enjoy it!

its one of the gay capitals of europe and is a run down dump and the locals don't like the english.

its good points are that its hot and sunny, the booze is so cheap its almost free and there's a nice supply of lovely ladies looking for c0ck.

great for a lads holiday, but make sure you don't go when they have the mardi gras, check out the dates first online, otherwise you'll be surrounded by mincers checking you out.

It´s in tenerife island, in the south of the island. Tenerife is not big so if you rent a car, you can drive around the island to visit more areas. In Playa del ingles you are going to have a nice time, can enjoy the beach, restaurant and night movie.

If you want more information visit http://www.dimehoteles.com/hoteles-en-Playa-De-Las-Americas-ct530p1.htm

You have all the information that you need and if you want you can book a hotel. You pay directly at hotel when you arrive.
