great little island. go to porto del Carmen.try the old town lots to do there .been there several times best of the islands

I've been there! It is really hot (duh) and I got to ride a camel there. I think there is a volcanoe you can go up in a coach tour but I'm not sure.

I went there last year. I went on the camel ride (wierd) and also on a coach trip to the mountain, which was excellent. The scenery was stunning.

I'm not a huge fan of the Canaries myself, much prefer the Balerics (except Majorca), but I have had two great holidays there. The weather is hot and sunny all year around, especially in the Summer months. I spent my time in Peurto del Carmen, which is full of Brits and Germans, but still plenty of Spaniards to keep the original culture alive. The people are very friendly, much more so than mainland Spainards! It's famous for it's black sand, due to Volcanic activity on the island in the past. Make sure you do not walk on this black sand when the weather's hot, as you may not walk for the rest of the holiday. I'd recommend visiting the famous caves in the centre of the island near the volcanoe (I forget it's name), as they hold the 'Secret of Lanzarote'.

I have been there 5 years ago and it was brilliant!!!!!
First of all, the landscape is very peculiar so you may love it or hate it. I know people who have been there and think that all you see are stones, but I do love that moonlike landscape. So it is a question of taste. Apart from that you have great things to see there like Cesar Manrique's house (famous arquitect that reinvented the island and lived inside volcanic bubbles!!!), Jameos del Agua, Los Verdes Cave, Timanfaya volcanic park, Cactus garden, La Geria (region where grapes are grown in amazing conditions), wonderful beaches (like Papagayo and Playa Blanca) and many other sites.
I repeat it is a question of taste but my personal thought is that I really loved Lanzarote!!!
