The voltage in England is 240; in France and Spain it is 220.
US equipment works on 110 volts
I find that my laptop works on an English transformer in Spain as the 220/240 input is not material.
Note that Televisions work on a different standard, PAL in England and Spain (with a different baud rate or something, so an English TV does not work in Spain and vice versa)and SECAM in France.
Also note that the UK uses 3 square pin plugs and France and Spain use Din-style two pins.

For about $35 -$40 you can get a kit that includes the transformer (very important) and it will work in all these places. You just use the different plug adapter for the country you are in. The instructions include a small card to know the one to use for each different country.
