Okay..I have done it twice..once starting at the end of March beginning of April.. it was good, but it rained nearly every day. It even snowed in a couple of areas.. spring in the north can be quite miserable. I have also done it in the fall.. started mid september..this was an infinitely better time to do it.. all of the fruits are on the trees, weather is great, and the trail is not quite as busy, so you are assured a bed. Just remember that some of the refugios close for the winter, so you don't want to start the trail too late in the year.. Plus..in the winter, there is tons of snow in the north..just like canada and the us. I live here now, I came to do the camino, did it the second time and just stayed.

i personally have not. But i live in Galicia and know a lot of people who have. The most popular time of year for the walk in Spain is June and August. However people do walk the route all year round.there are plenty of reasonably priced Hostels on route.Food wise, if you look for restaurants advertising "Menu de Dia" A 3 course meal from this menu normally costs around 8 euros, and includes wine and coffee.
the weather is relay hit and miss in the Autum, Even on a clear sunny day, It gets chilly in the eve. you need to prepare for sunshine and rain.
The route is clearly marked.good luck, hope you enjoy it.

One of my life's ambitions. I haven't done the Camino, but I would start in Spring, cross the Pyrenees in summer, and aim for santiago by autumn.
Good luck with your walk. I bet it's great whatever time of year.
